EricL: Perhaps the Koreans bought a bunch of 5105 in anticipation of a Chinese order. When that did not materialize, they decided to upgrade the product and sell it elsewhere in the world. They have reported the intent to push CDMA from 7 to 12% of total exports, you can do that by increasing the price of the products you export. Put in a more advanced chip. They can't sell either phone at home given the subscriber caps and subsidy bans. The rest of the world will not be ready for the phones for a couple months, so they lose nothing to wait for a more advanced chip.
