biz.yahoo.com

Cash costs to produce palladium, net of other metal credits and royalties, increased to US$330 per ounce in the first quarter 2001 compared to US$209 per ounce in the first quarter 2000. The increase in unit cash costs resulted from producing

The 49% increase in costs during the quarter was due to the much higher volumes of waste stripping (2001-5,929,666 tonnes vs. 2000-1,003,711 tonnes) compared to the volume of ore extracted and processed, as well as the impact of
increased fuel and energy costs
