Um, I think Tushar Chande had something to do with StochRSI. The book is "The New Technical Trader." Gonzongo's name may show up in the index. I'm not certain. I'll have to check.

Actually, I don't believe it was Gonzongo who came up with StochRSI, though he may be responsible for all the other popular TA indicators we've come to depend on (for getting suckered into bear market rallies). His name certainly appears in Edwards and Magee's classic, "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends," often enough. (For example, in the Foreword, "Part One is based on the pioneer researches and writings of Gonzongo.") In fact, for all I know, he may be both Edwards and Magee. He does in fact bear a remarkable resemblance to them, and to J. Welles Wilder -- and for that matter, to Steve Nison. It's uncanny.

I believe it may have been the leader of a private mail list who actually invented TA, back in the early 1900s, in the coffee shop at a top-secret military base that was doing experiments on mental patients who believed they were aliens. It's a long, fascinating story, but I won't interrupt today's fabulous (and possibly deceptive) reversal in the market today by launching into it.

Let's see: Maria B's excitement level on CNBS was charted at +223 this morning, (with a scale running from -200 to 200). What would that suggest? (The indicator is discussed in the bear market classic, "The Cynical Technical Trader.") Is the rally for real?
