LOL, I tend to drop out as soon as the argument goes into semantics. Not that I have any particular issue with happiness or morality, mind you; the former I regard as a personal issue, hence purely subjective, and the latter governed by society/culture - but then filtered through the mindset of the individual, hence doubly subjective <g>

OTOH I'm starting to have an issue with the word 'relative', since it seems to be taking on the tone of an insult here... I couldn't say why. <g> well I could but I want to preserve my barb ration.

As for the venue, friends will leave - hopefully to return, refreshed, at some later date... it's a matter of attracting new blood to keep it alive. Which is only easy when the thread stays attractive...

"...telling the truth, so high a value, it seems, that it's become an organizing principle for him in his morality scheme." Yes.

However, I don't consider Gossip as lieing. I don't remember what I said that would've given that impression but I posted the following to X last night for clarity.

"Gossip may in fact be truthful information and usually is. One does not start where the other leaves off. Gossip is the spreading of information in a bad way (as you suggested). Using what may be the truth about someone as some sort of destructive tool. Giving information to people who have no good use for that information can lead to nothing but hurt."

There is no point in paying attention to what you've already heard a million times if it did not resonate with you the first hundred times (imo). Perhaps your patience is infinite, mine is not. Or perhaps my time is just way too limited for me to waste any bit of it. When I approach wasting time, I have to say no way. Too many commitments.. If you think that is harmful to the venue I'll leave. Cosmic and I discuss this often. He thinks leaving is the answer. I say, if you enjoy a few, read the few. Why throw out the baby with the bath? Just throw out the bath.
