Electronics Times Reports on Atlantic Technology Ventures, Inc.'s CryoComm Development Program

Atlantic Signs Option Agreement with The University Of Rochester for Superconducting Magneto-Optical Modulator
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2001-- The Electronics Times reported today on Atlantic Technology Ventures, Inc., (Nasdaq: ATLC - news) signing of an option agreement to exclusively license a new invention entitled ``Magneto-Optical Modulator for Superconducting Digital Output Interface'' from the University of Rochester.

The headline article by Joanne Aslett is entitled ``Incubation for frozen switch,'' and reports that the Rochester technology uses magneto-optic material to modulate light at very low temperatures, using a magnetic field. It also reported that Atlantic hopes to use this technology to develop a switching device for its CryoComm(TM) development program involving the use of superconducting electronics technologies for high-speed, long-haul fiber optic telecom links.

As part of the article, Walter Glomb, vice-president of Atlantic Technology and president of the CryoComm(TM) division, was reported saying: ``Prof Sobolewski has developed technology that we hope will take superconducting pulses and convert them into optical signals within the superconducting material. We intend to develop switches, routers and optical transport systems which operate at 160Gbit/s.''

Mr. Glomb added that, ``The work is in the very early stages at the moment as superconducting magneto-optical materials have not been very well explored yet. This is just one piece of a larger program to develop all the high-speed optical components needed for the system. But our first goal is to demonstrate a working high-speed switch next year.'' Investors can access the full text of this article for a limited time at www.ElectronicsTimes.com.
