what are you thoughts about gold which is in a way finite by definition in a way aside from its rather infinite derivations of late

Were nice if it were a zero sum game. I guess drawing a surface around the earth and doing the math would lead to a non-zero value (iow a renormalization game). Plus we forget it's a dynamical, (very much) non-equilibrium system we're looking at. Things flow. It may be we're in a small canoo on Eerie lake (eastern side) at the moment ("Look - what a nice rainbow out there in the east...")

All other things being equal you still got a point John.

You're right, of course. I wasn't precise in my choice of language.

My point was that green pieces of paper with engravings of dead presidents on them are not money, they're a way of keeping score.
