I watched an A&E documentary type show where Truman and Uncle Joe were at a meeting. Truman leaked it to Uncle Joe that we had THE BOMB and would finish Japan. Uncle Joe wasn't happy and Truman couldn't figure out why. It might be all BS but A&E is usually pretty accurate.

Funny but Truman comes up red and Kennedy doesn't.

He answered to the Supreme Court, the Congress, and the electorate, and sometimes he could not get his way. To say that he was as close to a dictator as we have ever come is somewhat like saying that Billy Graham is as close to being a Pope as Evangelicals have ever had---- a miss is as good as a mile. As I mentioned, he was in failing health at Yalta, and that likely affected his performance.....
