I guess my thinking has been a bit unclear here. This is what I am getting at: poor results at semicaps indicates extra-poor results at chip makers which in turn indicates poor (extra-extra-poor?) results at the consumer end. And if the consumers are not willing to buy new high priced gizmos as a whole (be it a Palm, digital camera, or whatever) then chances of rocketting sales of RDRAM bases PCs and PS2 are low. And this is a real danger to Rambus, even if they have mixed wins in the courts.

In other words, unless Rambus establishes in the courts that their patents cover SDRAM, DDR, RDRAM, and future modifications to them (something that I find unlikely), then the low demand for end products will translate into more time for competing products to be developed/marketed. So that when the demand does finally pick up, whatever problems you may see with high-speed DDR now will not be an issue then.
