I believe mutual dependence and fair trade for many things is fine, but when it comes to food and energy, unnecessary dependence will eventually lead to disaster in my opinion. Of course, some major players and many other smaller countries that are not blessed with abundant natural resources have little choice in the matter, but a great nation like the United States of America should not be at the mercy of others for critical energy supplies under any circumstances, which includes caving in to the radical environmentalists on critical issues important to preserving our independence and future freedoms.
I believe we need more clean power sources like solar, wind and water power, but in the meantime we need more domestic oil supplies and we should not let overly strict environmental concerns place the shackles of increasing energy dependence upon our free will as a nation.
