John,

No tools for me -- I'm just a simple, ordinary dummy.

I just feel familiar/comfortable with the stocks I'm writing on after working with them for a year or so. And I listen to the smart guys on this, the Q, and the NTAP threads (although I don't always agree with them...).

Reading and completely understanding the covered calls chapter in McMillian has been a big confidence builder for me. I don't do all those things but I "get it" or as we software guys say, I grok it.

Honestly, since I've started writing calls, I've been surprised at how easy it actually is. I've been writing on QCOM, NTAP, CSCO, SEBL, and someday when the premiums improve, RMBS. Just "feel the force, Luke..." :o)
