"American Beauty" is a great one....

But if I were left on an island with only one movie available, I'd chose "To Kill a Mockingbird:"

It has it all (except for music): childhood innocence, tragedy, comedy, prejudice, understanding.

And my second choice would be "Dr. Strangelove (Or How I
Learned to Stop Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb)."

I didn't enjoy "American Beauty" at all.

I thought it was very tasteless movie...

I agree with you.
American Beauty was a profound a visually stunning movie.
Human beings are so full of contradictions, and life has so many twists and turns. A really good pick.
