There were various dissections of the votes done after Florida. The "old machines" is based on various anecdotal complaints about not being able to line up the ballots correctly, so I don't have figures. But polling sites that could not validate ballots were an important factor in the elections. The highest error rates came from optical scan counties that did not offer ballot validation (central machine). Second were punch card counties. I don't think any of those counties offered validation. Sorry if my original comment was confusing.
