Victor: Japan is populated in dense clusters -- for example, 30 million people live within a 30 mile radius from Tokyo tower. The Osaka/Kansai/Kyoto area is similar. If you include Yokohama, Nagoya and Hiroshima, you have most of the population. I am coming in without knowing the whole context of your conversation, but if I understand the concern about wireless deployment in Japan, the main urban clusters and transportation corridors seem well covered.
