**OT** As part of Firestone's request to the US Auto Highway Safety Commission that they "investigate" the safety of Ford Explorer van's, just saw the CEO of Firestone on CNBC claiming (in effect) that the auto accidents that Firestone will spend the next 5 years litigating were not the result of tire defects resulting in tread separation but, rather, the result of improper design of the Ford Explorer van.

Does anyone else find this as ludicrous as I do?
