It may tie up little capital but it may lose it at a 100% rate as well while not offering a long term to wait for to be
vindicated. And i am talking about calls here as well as puts. Mike


Buying options is more risky then stocks if you look at it in terms of how much risk of loss as a percentage of invested dollars. But normally you would put less money at risk. Argueably buying a put is less risky then shorting a stock and buying a call is less risky then buying stock with heavy use of margin. With the option buys your potential loss is limited to 100% and its probably 100% of a smaller dollar figure. In the other cases you can lose more then 100% of a larger amount.

RobertO and Michael, Options aren't for everybody, they do
have a significant risk element, I won't beleager the point.
In my case, the risk/reward ratio justifies the means. No
one should invest or speculate any more than they are willing to risk or lose, to do so is the recipe for disaster. I simply stated my approach to the current state
of affairs as I see/analyze them...
