e-mails...Sector scanning must be done daily and its not enough to do a casual scan on Friday or end of day. I have intraday real time scans and Bloomberg professional. and 15-20 minute delay for EXTREMELY detailed Prosearch scans from Telescan. Although its not as up to the minute as some real time scans it can scan up to 125 criteria and even with the delay its still a very good scan usually good for swing trades. Real time scans don't usually come up with any stocks until they have made a 'most up' list and by then its too late. The criteria are limited to just volume and price and don't have the rich multitude of technical criteria like P&F early alert for double and triple bottom and top breakouts, 50, 20 day moving average breakouts, RSI below 75, Stochastics below 70, 3 days up 5%, EPS rank, RSI rank, Volume percent increase as compared to the 50 day average volume, attractiveness all around rank, Accumulation/distribution etc etc... etc..
Up to the minute news and upgrades are important but within the sector of strength otherwise its not that much of a big deal. We get our scans as early as early as 7:00 a.m. and by 9:00 have a pretty good indication of sector strength and by 9:45 an excellent indication of HUGE volume/price/volatility breakouts utilizing filtering criteria and not the run of the mill q'chart calls. In fact we don't usually get more than a half dozen price/volatility/volume breakouts by 9:45 to 9:50 while other programs can have as much as 100 or more.
