Actually, on the positive side, I think they peaked-at least for the current generation-in 2000. Many more states than Florida saw the writing in the wall, and the danger has definitely registered. The reforms are presented as better ways to keep the ballots from being "confusing", and preventing "error". But the biggest preventable error of 2000 would have been stopping the Democratic operatives from manufacturing phony voter registrations prior to election day, then bringing the same human vegetables back to the polling booths time and time again to cast those non-existent votes. Even the simplest procedures, such as requiring a photo ID in order to be admitted to the voting booth, would have stymied the Democrat machine enough to result in substantial Republican wins in many states and in the presidential race.

In other words, the Democrats shot their wad in 2000, failed, and are now screaming phony propaganda about "disenfranchisment" and "getting screwed in Florida" to cover their exposed posteriors...

Another positive is that, post-Florida, you are no longer hearing that drivel about "maximizing participation" that has resulted in laws being passed that facilitate the aforementioned fraud.

Election results are important. The fate of both the nation and the world hang in the balance when we confer power in the US. It should be difficult to register and vote. The myth that those who don't care or don't have a clue should be encouraged to "participate" has been pierced. The gradual movement back to integrity and accuracy has begun...
