a lot of people try to play the contrarian game, but between extreme contrarian events, trends happen, anedoctal sentiment on these threads works sometimes, but if you try to trade on it you will be as bitter as the above poster, especially if you are using high leverage instruments, with no stops because you believe you are smarter than the market -g-

larry mcmillan has a good concept for turns in sentiment by using moving average cross-overs in put/call ratios, this is important, because levels of bullish and bearish sentiment change as the market changes, during the late 70's and early 80's the level's on p/c ratio became almost automatic buys and sells when it got to a certain level, now it's more dynamic, nothin is easy, it's eichler's chess game.
