Max, there may be seasonal fluctuations in employment that are possibly being left out of the raw numbers.

Furthermore, if you are no longer actively looking for work (in rehab, in the underground economy, homeless, etc) the government doesn't include you anymore in the statistics.

Max, I checked the raw employment numbers when the unemployment rate began to grow again, compared to last October's low. If I remember right (the posts are on my thread) we had more people working at 4.4% unemployment than 3.9% with the seasonal adjustments.

That's when I stopped paying much attention to the employment statistics. It's all cooked in the Washington oven.
