After AMAT hit its head on 52 and fell down, I found I was lacking conviction on the shares I had bought a few days ago at 51.50, so I managed to sell them at 51.60 after hours, enough to cover the commissions. So AMAT will probably rally on Monday. <g>

A friend of a friend, talking about trading, said "Your first thought is usually the correct one." Looks like that would have applied to your initial plan to sell at 52, since the price, or at least the ask, got up to 52.19 today. I had initially set a limit sell order at 53.50, so following that rule the stock should get at least that high next week, but I find that I don't have enough confidence to stick it out in the face of earnings warning season.
