It is those "religious zealots" as you call them, that pray for you and your children, and hold back the gates of hell for the time being. Yet you want to deny their children ......think about it.

If you want to live in a theocracy, move to a suburb of Salt Lake City.
Theocracy? The LAST thing I want is a theocracy. I'm an atheist, son. I'm the first target in those guys sights.

"Cherry-picking" the best from the public schools ain't the answer.
FUNNY you should mention that. Forty, fifty years ago- -back when the system worked- -kids who repeatedly disrupted classes, hit teachers, constantly got into fights, did drugs, etc., were expelled. Now they stay in school, continuing the same thing and keeping everyone else from learning anything. It used to be the public school system "cherry picked" as you put it. Then it was captured by "educators" and not allowed to- -and it now longer works. Don't knock cherry picking; it allows you to save at least some of the crop.

the NEA
Pardon me while I retch.

right-wing extremists like yourself.
Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment. When you're as far left as you can get, everything is to the right- -even moderates.

Education vouchers are dead in the water.
Maybe for now. We'll be back.

<< Neither is giving tax breaks to religious zealots. >>

What if they are poor or belong to a union?

Rather, we need a renewed commitment from the federal government, all 50 states, all school districts, the NEA and all parents to create the best schools we possibly can.

Agreed. The best first step would be to eliminate all teacher's unions. We could do with 30 - 50% of the "Administrators" positions and phony "teacher's aid" positions created by union featherbedding and free up all that money for books, real teachers, etc. without having to spend another nickel.

Parents are voting for vouchers all over the nation by spending thousands of dollars to send their kids to private schools.

Teachers and left wing Democrats are particularly strong supporters of vouchers for their own children. Of course, like most issues, they're complete hypocrites toward the poor who really need it.

The Edison schools are showing great leadership. Educrats from the Teachers Union should emulate the Edison methodologies, instead of doing all they can to keep children from poor families in generational cycles of ignorance.

Read and educate yourself beyond the teachers union pamphlet flapjack.

About those theocrats: A few years back they were 4th from the bottom in school funding and close to the top in outcome. If you demolibs actually had the interests of the kids and the working-class taxpayer in mind, I would think you would take a VERY close look at what was going on there to see if it was transferrable to other states.
Of course, that does not serve the purpose of increasing the number of union members (NEA) and creating an underclass of poorly served constituents to vote for liberal politicians.

Do you know the title of this thread? If that's true, then this is my home. What the hell are you doing here?

Flap would you hire a roofer who fixed your roof and six months later the roof had major holes in it. Further would you hire that roofer if he told you that if you paid him more that he would do a better job ? Now suppose you believed him one more time and he re-did your roof. Now it leaked even worse. Now you went to him and he told you just pay me more and I'll certainly get it right next time. Now suppose that his prices were 3k to do the roof and you were not allowed to go to anyone else to fix your roof except for someone who charged 25k.
There you are the public school system. ANd Flap 50 % of public school teachers supposedly low paid send their kids to private schools. All of the Democrats in Washington send their kids to private school. But that's ok you ask all those children to be the sacrificial lamb. The teachers and the Democrats in Washington thank you. The children can't read or write and they can't even put a condom on properly as evidenced by the soaring epidemic in the gay youth community of Aids. We just will bring in more people from India and China who were educated on far less money for far more results.

I have a solution for the Oakland Warriors bring back Carlissimo and double his salary I am sure that then the Warriors will do better.
