Don't go there, my wife will kick your butt! Problem is a mostly corrupt goverment and Marxist rebels have been fighting for years. Now rebels are coming right into downtown Bogota and kidnapping people, esp. a green eyed gringo like me who is taller then most Colombians. If I was not speaking Spanish, My wife and her relatives told me to keep quiet and hold onto my little guy. They would not let me walk across the street to a small market by myself. Cartegna is a tourist town on the ocean so I walked around there by myself with no problem except all the street vendors calling me Jefe and Patron and trying to sell me their goods. A friend of ours here had her father snatched right off his farm in Colombia and it took about 6 months to get him back.
