I suppose you could just face straight down.

I was reflecting on Brees' comment about facing northeast from Colorado. I understand that, technically speaking, northeast may be the shortest distance. But I would think that would be disconcerting. What's northeast of Colorado? Maine. Iceland. Definitely not places one associates with Islam. Northeast might be technically right but it sure wouldn't feel right. Like singing the US or Canadian national anthems in Russian. Eerie, I would think.

Crows can't fly through the earth, though. I don't think crows are very good at calculating great circle routes either, but it's in the realm of possibility anyway.
