CB - John LeCarre's latest thriller, "The Constant Gardener," is about a multinational pharmaceutical company which engages in fraud, torture and murder to keep the truth from coming out about a deadly tuberculosis drug they are testing in Africa. LeCarre is probably most famous for writing "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold." So the concept of pharmaceutical company as villain is already in the vernacular, apparently - LeCarre's old villains were Communists - and the British aristocracy.
