Blake,
I make plenty of mistakes, though my goal is to make only new ones. As soon as I see that I am wrong, I change course and chuck up the cost of the mistake as the tuition paid to the Great Teacher. This is the only logical thing to do. I highly recommend reading Jesse Livermore's Remenecences of a Stock Operator. Sadly I had to make many of the mistakes before I understood what he was really saying.

PS do you have an alternative view as to why Rambus' adversary would choose not to fallow through?

Success in warfare is gained by carefully accommodating ourselves to the enemy's purpose. If the enemy shows an inclination to advance, lure him on to do so. If he is anxious to retreat, delay on purpose that he may carry out his intention...At first, then, exhibit the coyness of a maiden, until the enemy gives you an opening; afterward emulate the rapidity of a running hare, and it will be too late for the enemy to oppose you. -- Sun Tzu 453 B.C.
