hi esteban,

re, "BTW the putergeek network site mentioned here on the thread was a big help in troubleshooting the network settings, and my settings are better now than before"

that is very good news indeed, as i have been repeatedly recommending that site ( putergeek.com ), as it has always looked top drawer to me. but if i don't hear good things back, then i begin to wonder. so thanks for that.

the pc mechanic - build your own pc site looks like a complete winner! i have stored it away for future reference.

re, "Do you have any favorite sources that guide one through a dual operating setup?"

worldowindows.com
smartcomputing.com

"I took my time and followed this very detailed system building guide which took me through the process step by step"

that's the way i would approach it, esteban. i'm a big fan of preparation, though there's always that point where you have to stop all the reading and studying and just get into it! <g3> some things just will not come to you until and unless the process begins, don't you agree?

:)
