One major difference in your "death toll" is how those people died. The overwhelming majority of Israelis have died as the result of deliberate attacks against them by Palestinians and extremist groups. Death by terrorism. On the other hand, the majority of Palestinians have been killed to Israeli self-defense (not retaliatory attacks), such a returning fire given (sometimes with tank shells). Many others have been killed by being caught in the crossfire of a shoot-out. And the rest? Deliberate elimination and decapitation of the extremist leadership network of militant infrastructure. These are valid military targets in the eyes of the IDF, just as the Palestinians consider IDF troops AND ISRAEL SETTLERS on the West Bank, as legitimate targets (the PA has stated as such). But blowing up kids in front of a dance hall in Tel Aviv does not equate to defending yourself against kids seeking a confrontation with you, throwing rocks and molotov cocktails while the adults hide behind them with sniper rifles. Let the observers statistically analyze the Palestinian loss of life in the same manner that they divide up Israeli casualties (2 to 1 ratio between civilian and soldier casualties), and you'll likely find fewer PA civilians have been killed in comparison to deaths among their "soldiers".
