The numbers you talk of I think represent running 32 bit compiled code on a 64 bit Itanium. I think you are wrong. The benchmarks were from ACEs, as published by HP for their rx4610 server. The Itanium seems to fit in the table in the same place as the benchmarks on Intel's own site. aceshardware.com Itanium seems to be only incrementally better than existing servers - who will want to face the hassle of being an "early" adopter for so little gain, even if Itanium systems are priced to sell.
