We can thank Elizabeth Dole for our Puritanical drinking laws. That stupid third brake light was her idea, too.

As Secretary of Transportation, Dole increased automobile safety requirements and spearheaded the campaign to raise the drinking age to 21.
(the states that wouldn't do it were refused highway funds)

Actually, the current situation is a great improvement over the last administration. Now it's the kids who are constantly in trouble and the President who behaves himself, rather than the other way around.
