will....that spread is just there for window dressing. when the specialist gets a better sense of the vol it will tighten up considerably. and, if you can watch all day (i can...this is all i do) you will almost always be presented with an opportunity to catch a price on even the most horrific spreads during the day if there is just a small amount of vol..but you have to be quick. very quick. i have seen 1.00 spreads lessen to .06 during a trading day but only for a minute or two.
