You're in the server sales business right?

No.

Probably a dumb question...why would someone buy a 4 or 8 way server as opposed to a 2 way or several 2 way servers?

Some applications, like database management, scale very well with software like Oracle 8i or 9i. The more CPUs you throw at it, the faster it runs. It's cheaper, takes less power adding more CPUs to a mobo than adding boxes. Some machines go up to 32 or 64 CPUs. Somebody must think they scale all the way up.
