<<I wonder what will be the long term effect of the Chinese "one child" policy?>>

The policy was not followed in the countryside where the majority of the folks lives, to this day. The policy is being abandoned in small cities now. The policy was in effect for one generation of city folks, accounting for 200 million, slightly more than the whole of Japan. Just another experiment that did not work.
