Re: Think thin 'n light. That's where the sales are going.

Tony, I'm a big fan of thin and light, and my personal notebook is still a sharp Actius.

But I've found the great majority of users want a desktop replacement. They want a big screen, a full size keyboard, a superdisk, and a DVD player (as much for watching movies on long flights, as anything else). They're almost always willing to carry several extra pounds for those features.

Not for me, personally, but I seem to be in the minority on this one.

More and more notebooks seem to be spending a lot of time sitting on desks these days, anyway. Something that helps excuse Intel pretending its 600MHZ mobile computers are 850MHZ mobile computers (and labeling them that way).

Last year's technology, being introduced today, at One AMD Place. "Roadkill" Kumar must be getting ready to come out again.

Now that Transmeta has licensed AMD's 64 bit instructions I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have a 64 bit processor out before AMD does. As Paul would say, what a hoot!
