Hi DJ,
<<Best example of a nasty everyday phase transition:6 chockful lanes somewhere between NY and Boston, going at 65 (maybe a mile more) Then its just a question of "somebody stepping on the brake".>>

Of course, in Boston, the folks used to, and may still, be allowed to drive on the road shoulder during rush hours. I remember, because I did not know the rules, and was surprised. Luckily, I was driving a big mother SUV.

Now, I suppose that if Tokyo gets hit with an earthquake, or dusted with Fuji volcano dust, the rush of Yen from US to Japan will feel like the impact of a big mother tractor trailer. Oops, there, I said it.

No, I fear weakened interlinked complex systems. The FED has only one method of fighting the fire, bubble, earthquake, unemployment, deflation, volcano blowup, typhoon, stagflation, heat wave, inflation, and flood.

Chugs, Jay
