It's because some people in Houston think The Taste of Texas Restaurant is the best restaurant in Houston, and it's not what I'd call cheap.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse originated in New Orleans. I think it's pretty good, but it's a chain restaurant. People from New Orleans (that would be me) think it was a lot better before it became a chain.

I have eaten in restaurants in Houston which I am sure I liked better than I would like Taste of Houston, but being from New Orleans, they were more to my taste - - seafood, French sauces. Taste of Houston looks like a Texas kind of place. Populist, easily accessible to the masses. Kind of like Fuddrucker's for the well heeled. More American, less European.
