NTAP has sold storage to the Human Genome project participants. I don't recall
them ever talking about "life sciences" like they do oil/gas or service providers
on conference calls. IBM obviously has both feet in this because they sell
compute servers and storage servers and lots of other software tools and
services so it makes sense for them to create a "life sciences division".

As long as NTAP produces higher performing cost-effective storage and storage
management add-ons, they'll continue to be able to sell general purpose
solutions into this segment. They may well have sales people targetted or
to-be-targetted for life sciences or bio-medical.
