you don't think there were technology improvements in the 30's and 40's and in the 70's? the markets still went down for over a decade. perhpas even a better example is japan. with the explosion of pc's and the internet in the 90's did all the money saved and new markets pull japan out of it's depression? no.

technology is not a panacea bill.
