LOL, militant elves? No, I can't say that prospect causes me many sleepless nights.

I'd like the same relief from taxation and special rights to run schools and distribute government funds granted to religions, though.

Quick snippet re Nepal. The Prince who shot most of his family used to be at Eton (no comment <g>. Good training there). When he turned 18, the Nepalese hierarchy decreed that he had attained deity status... as a result of this, he was excused from attending chapel at school. ROFL.

I think this is precisely the point. If the leaders of the believers would accept that it is personal, there would be no further argument from the non-believers.
