Actually, Dikembe has never picked up many fouls during his career. I watched him nightly here in Atlanta for the past few years. He has always been very good at waiting for the offensive player to commit before going after the ball, thus avoiding pump fakes. He also is good at just getting the ball, and not hacking. Both of these attributes are shocking, given the fact that he looks like such a klutz on offense.
