Safety Hazards: Cell Phones vs Tolls
NewsMax.com contributor Fr. Michael Reilly offers his
observations about one always-overlooked aspect of the
cell phone safety debate:

When the media reports on cell phones and distracted
driving there is one major distraction never mentioned:
tolls.

Isn't it amazing that every major study indicates that
cell phones are not the major distraction on the road.

Instead, changing radio stations, looking out the window
at accidents, correcting mischievous children, and eating
are listed as bigger problems.

It is equally amazing that splitting from three lanes to
fifteen to pay a toll, and then switching back to three,
is not a distraction.

Switching lanes to match up with "Cash only," "EZ Pass
only," "Full Service," is not a distraction. Fumbling for
exact change, tickets, or an EZ Pass badge is not a
distraction.

Bureaucrats who earn their living by collecting $7 tolls
to cross a bridge would never allow such a discussion.
