''We may ... be seeing a flattening of the retail price of gasoline in the U.S. after sharp rises in the last few years,'' Greenspan said. Addressing International Monetary Conference delegates by live video link from Washington, Greenspan also said that inflation is currently ''not a significant problem'' in the U.S. economy. The Fed has cut interest rates five times this year in an effort to boost the struggling U.S. economy, though government officials have remained watchful for any possible surge in inflation. ~~~~~~~ the fed is sure out there spinning a lot lately. no inflation, energy prices coming down, economy coming back, more room to cut rates. i think we are going to focus on alternative energies in the coming years no matter what the price of oil. oil could easily hit $25 in the near-term but i still think it works it's way higher over the coming years. high enough to cap our economic growth. oil isn't even all that high when you take into account inflation. in the late 70's oil hit like $90/bbl in today's dollars. yet look how much crowing and hoopla we get when it hits $30/bbl. also i hear all this talk from everyone about exploration of oil, but it appears from what i'm reading that exploration is just a band-aid solution, and really won't solve anything in the long-run. >> I was wondering what are some US market traded (i.e. US and ADRs etc.) stocks of resource/commodity companies that would be worth looking at now? << well commodities is such a broad category i don't know where u would want to start. there was a chinese coal company adr i posted in a previous post. yzc bhp bvn rtp pcu clt pal aauk are some metals plays, although i think if you want to make a bet on commodities in the coming years it's best to start learning how to trade futures and you should be prepared to invest in foreign markets.
