<<like i said before, you have to account for purchasing power parity. you have to account for the purchasing power of the currency. when adjusted for ppp china is the second largest economy in the world. china's gdp may be only $1 trillion in u.s. dollars, but if it can buy 4.7 times as many goods in china for that $1 then the adjusted gdp is $4.7 trillion. this isn't some scheme to inflate the numbers, this is an adjustment made for all countries around the world, to make relevant comparisons. >>

That's b()llsh!tt, Craig. This is exactly what you say it's not- some scheme to inflate the numbers.

Chinese workers cannot afford to buy 99.7% of what they make for export. So your "parity" is obviously way unbalanced. I live in the US, and when I buy groceries or clothes, I do not use yen or francs, I use dollars!! I do not check excahnge rates to see how much milk I can afford to buy. And neither do the Chinese people.

So contrary to what you've stated around here, Japan is the second largest economy in the world after the US, forget about China.
Victor
