well since we the market has been around for since 1700's I suppose any one of the little sayings that make wallstreet so colorful, have been found to be not true now and then. <vbg>

The big difference between the low vol. then and now is the lateral movement we are having, it's called base building or consolidation. The longer the base/consolidation building process goes on, the stronger the foundation will be for the next bull leg. A better comparison is to compare sept 2000 to the jan/feb 2001 time frames, both of those time periods are representative of a pending market directional change. Where as now the holders are showing how strong their hands are by holding after a large move.
