i agree that it's probably just rhetoric at this stage. imo Egypt wouldn't stand a chance against Israel in a war. however, this stepping up of war-like rhetoric is a sign of how the ME situation becomes ever more volatile. we can't rule out that it will eventually deteriorate to the point of a wider regional war. Egypt would be powerless against Israel on its own...but a bigger coalition of Arab states (say, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Libya and perhaps even Iran) may THINK it has a chance.
