Yup, but there's a couple of things left out.
#1 BG ran across some software already developed by a small firm called Seattle software. He borrowed $50k from his Dad and bought it.
He then went to IBM and sold them on using it for the first PC being developed.
#2 Now, where his negotiating skills really set in was he kept the ownership of the software, and IBM agreed to pay him only on a per installed basis.
That $50k software he bought was called DOS...he changed the name to MS-DOS, which is now windows.
