May I suggest a read / "read again" of the Koran ?

Done that too, though not so thoroughly. One must, however, distinguish between the scripture of a religion and its actual range of belief. There is a great deal in modern Christianity, some sects more than others, which one would have a devil of a time finding anywhere in the supposed source book. Similarly, regardless of the word or intent in the Koran, there has been a very strong history in Islam of "convert or die". Christianity has had some very ugly history in this direction itself ... again, without benefit of what would seem from the outside to be good authority ... but I don't think it has reached quite the same sustained pitch and intensity. Both seem to me to be misinterpretations, but that doesn't keep them from being prevalent.
