Israel is a stratocracy, that is, a garrison state where everyone is or has been, or will be, part of the military

And how does this differ from Switzerland, where every able bodied man has to serve in the Swiss military and remain in the reserves on 24 hour call up until age 45?

Personally, I think the US should follow the same policy. There is no greater equalizer than to know that everyone you meet has served a two year stint in national service. That would go far to mitigate this class warfare we see constantly taking place where the poor risk their lives to protect the wealthy.

And it would go far to reducing DOD expenditures on personnel costs, and would provide an incredible reserve of trained individuals that could be mobilized when needed.

To use your logic, anyone who had ever served in the military would now be a legitimate target and could never be classified as a "civilian".

Well, I could turn that around and claim that every Muslim is a "Soldier for Allah" and accountable to the call of "Jihad"... This, and the fact that the extremist muslims seem to have no qualms about sacrificing children as "martyrs" means that no Muslim can be classified as a civilian.

And thus, the Israelis would be perfectly within their rights to kill them all...

Is that the path you really want to go down, Gustave??
