HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001--Sharp Systems of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, the recognized world leader of LCD technology, today announced its entry into the U.S. notebook computer market with the introduction and immediate availability of the Sharp PC-AR50 notebook computer.

The Sharp PC-AR50 is designed for corporate users who demand performance and mobility. This feature-rich notebook computer is powered by an 850MHz Mobile Intel(R) Pentium III(R) processor with Intel SpeedStep(TM) technology. Configured for the mobile business traveler, the Sharp PC-AR50 comes with 128MB SDRAM, expandable to 256MB, a 20GB removable hard drive, and a video controller with 8MB of video RAM. A hot-swappable multi-bay gives the business traveler maximum flexibility. The CD-R/RW, floppy drive, DVD and extended battery can all occupy the same drive bay.

Sharp's superior screen quality is legendary and this notebook features a 14.1" SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) display with Sharp's proprietary AGLR technology (anti-glare, low reflection) to deliver crisp, clear images, fully saturated blacks, and a color range of 16 million colors.
