Amazon Says Still on Target for Profit

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMZN - news) Chief Financial Officer Warren Jenson said on Tuesday he is ``highly confident'' the online retail giant will deliver on its promise of turning a profit on a
pro-forma basis in the fourth quarter of this year.

The company would likely be profitable for all of 2002 on the same pro-forma basis, he told analysts and reporters at the company's annual analysts conference. The pro-forma profit would exclude a range of costs, such as interest on Amazon's more than $2 billion in debt and charges associated with acquisitions. ``While there can never be guarantees, you will hear from us that we are highly confident about our ability to deliver pro forma operating profits in the fourth quarter,'' Jenson said. ``We believe we are well-positioned for pro forma, operating profitability for the year 2002.''

``We're bullish on our 2002 prospects.''

I think it was the mustard, relish and the hype.
>AMCC
Great co...bad current climate
>EMC...should be a good long term buy.
Bought CMVT today based on excellent earnings which is hard to come by in tech these days.
I also think Lucent could be a slooooow turn around play. If LU goes bankrupt I'll eat my hat.
One of my daughters had NTAP at 16 then watched it go to 152.
She didn't sell it when I advised her to.:-(
