You drop the matter by dishonoring Mike. The idea that a false apology was required is nonsense. "Threw himself on the grenade"? That's rather a lot of drama, isn't it? It was an argument about easily demonstrable, provable (or not) propositions, not about life and death, or even about greatly complex issues. Why do you feel that offering logical propositions is like a 'grenade'? Think about that. In life, decent people often respond to a feeling inside themselves by asking to be forgiven. A good person who is immediately and warmly forgiven doesn't have his friends take his apology back the next day. I shall send your post to him. You can't let it go, can you, dude? You need it to begin again and end a different way. You are troubled.
